The Emily Duits Memorial Scholarship was established in October 2005 to honor the life Emily lived, which was full of passion for her family, community, and spirited involvement in all Lakewood High School activities. She loved all the activities that school had to offer: hanging out with friends; playing sports; attending athletic events; pep rallies, tailgates, and plays; and showing her school spirit through class competitions. Emily was kind-hearted and went out of her way to make classmates feel included. Her personality was infectious and she was rarely seen without a smile.
The recipient must be a graduating Lakewood senior who plans to attend any post-secondary education institution or trade school. There is no minimum GPA requirement. This award is open to all applicants who would like to apply.
Up to $2,000 will be awarded annually to a Lakewood High School senior(s) who demonstrates the qualities reflected in Emily’s life. The award will be paid to the individual(s), and funds can be used as the student sees fit. The award will be presented at Lakewood High School Honors Night. This scholarship is supported through the Emily Duits Memorial, Inc. and generous donations from the greater Lakewood and local volleyball communities.
